Next month ‘Why Use a
night Cream’.
Acne and the associated
scarring can be deeply traumatising for anyone who has ever suffered with it.
Many home-use products simply don’t work and the most commonly prescribed
alternatives can have some very unpleasant side effects, including being strong
depressants and the condition reappearing as soon as the treatment course comes
to an end.
Non-invasive treatments
are becoming more popular, mainly because they are very successful, affordable,
and can be booked on a ‘need-only basis’, hence many clients will simply book
in when they have a break-out. In some instances this may not be for several
years after the initial course and may be just a ‘top-up’ or ‘one-off’.
The most frequently
desired treatments tend to be laser/pulsed light, using a range of bacteria
targeting wavelengths, or a chemical peel (which may be mild-moderate or
strong, depending on the individual’s needs). The treatments can be combined
and tailor-made, plus supported with a range of clinically formulated products
for use by the individual at home to maximise the effectiveness. All treatments
assist the removal of bacteria/visible acne and the reduction/removal of
scarring.
This time of year is
ideal to commence treatments as the natural UV in the UK is low and hence skin
tends not to be overly tanned or sensitive.
Normally the 1st
treatment is followed up with an assessment at a 2-4 week interval so ideal for
getting great looking skin in time for Bonfire Night, Christmas parties and
then the New Year. Perfect for finally ‘loving the skin you are in’.
