Seasonal FAQs - the Essential Guide

Skin Deep – October 2011
South Warrington News

Welcome to ‘Skin Deep’ – This month’s feature looks at ‘FAQs’. Any questions, just ask Dr. Angie Winnington-Sharp http://www.cheshireskinclinic.com/ angie@cheshireskinclinic.com or 01925 263660 & 07967 481594.  Next month we’ll be looking at ‘preparing your skin for a seasonal change’.

FAQ’s do change depending on the season and new technologies, but the most frequent & common questions for non-surgical techniques tend to revolve around the same key issues; cost, pain (if any) and how does it work:
(1)     Can I have laser hair removal on blonde/white hair? YES you can, but it depends on the specific system that your clinic has.  If it is able to target haemoglobin as well as melanin and has variable settings it will work on all hair colours – ask what system they use and if they have had previous success.
(2)     Can you really improve the appearance of cellulite? Thank goodness the answer is YES! Radio-frequency techniques, sometimes combined with others, are excellent at body toning, improving the texture of the skin and removing cellulite naturally from the body, no invasion, surgery or laser is required and it doesn’t hurt – the sensation is that of a gentle, warming massage – perfect!
(3)     What is an appropriate cost for laser/IPL treatments as they seem to vary considerably? Basically, the cost depends on the size of the area being treated and the extent of the condition. An average cost for an underarm hair removal treatment is £50-60 per session, this should decrease as the area shrinks and you shouldn’t be expected to pay for multiple treatments up front if you don’t want to. Larger areas such as ½ legs will cost more and thread vein/acne treatments vary on the severity/length of time you have had them.
These are just three typical questions, please send in more and I’ll answer as many as possible over the coming months. Try to focus on treatments that you would like done in the run up to autumn/winter and New Year.
