As we are bombarded with more and more adverts and programs insisting that we should all aspire to have the perfect face and body; get rid of embarrassing features and generally ‘seek perfection’, it can become all too easy to opt for drastic, risky surgery and then spend months, if not years, wishing that we hadn’t rushed into it.  Surgical procedures clearly come with an element of risk, as any use of anaesthetics and/or surgical intervention can induce a negative response from our bodies.  This is why more people than ever are deciding to ‘ease themselves’ into appearance altering treatments by starting off with something non-surgical and thus minimising the risk and the financial costs. Non-surgical face lifts are the ideal way to see an improvement in our appearance without any incision or invasion to the skin’s natural barrier, whilst still lifting, toning and tightening an area and thus altering our outward appearance. Radio-frequency and pulsed light/laser techniques can be easily combined to give exceptional results, which, in time will revert back to our starting point if not ‘topped-up’. Therefore, these treatments can be used as a stepping stone to surgery, if this is what someone’s ultimate goal is, or as a complete alternative on a monthly, quarterly or yearly basis, hence negating the need for surgery completely. We are all familiar with the saying, “don’t run before you can walk”. In this instance, why have surgery unless it is absolutely necessary, especially when you can get such fantastic results without the risk.

Cellulite and Stretch Marks - Disappear!

Welcome to ‘Skin Deep’ – This month’s feature looks at our ‘Cellulite and Stretch Marks’.
Any questions, just ask Dr. Angie Winnington-Sharp www.cheshireskinclinic.com angie@cheshireskinclinic.com or 01925 263660 & 07967 481594.  Next month – ‘Non-Surgical Face Lifts’.

Many people have cellulite or stretch marks and spend a good deal of time trying to cover them up and make them less noticeable with creams and oils, or just ‘body conscious’ clothing.  However, the good news is that both conditions can be treated to either drastically improve the appearance, or remove them altogether. Cellulite is commonly described as fatty deposits, causing a dimpled or uneven
appearance, often around the thighs and buttocks’. It is often genetic and not always related to a person’s size. It is possible to remove cellulite by radio-frequency, which can naturally heat up the effected area and break down the deposits, which are then naturally removed as waste from the body, whilst simultaneously toning and tightening the effected areas.
Stretch marks frequently result from rapid stretching of the skin linked with rapid growth or rapid weight changes. Stretch marks may also be influenced by hormonal changes associated with puberty, pregnancy, body-building and hormone replacement therapy These can also be treated in a similar manner to cellulite in terms of tightening the surrounding skin. However, to get the best results it is ideal to treat when still slightly pink/pigmented as this appearance can also be alleviated with the use of a vascular targeted laser system to make the area look less visible, thus allowing the person being treated to return to wearing short sleeves, a bikini or shorts etc without worrying that the area is noticeable to others.
Both treatments are assisted by maintaining a healthy lifestyle and ensuring that the body is hydrated. In addition, both also benefit from being treated as early as possible as they take longer to respond they age. Look forward to great skin and body confidence for the summer.

Vascular and Pigmentation Removal - Fast!

South Warrington News

Welcome to ‘Skin Deep’ – This month’s feature looks at our ‘Thread Vein and Pigmentation Removal’.
Any questions, just ask Dr. Angie Winnington-Sharp www.cheshireskinclinic.com angie@cheshireskinclinic.com or 01925 263660 & 07967 481594.  Next month – ‘Cellulite and Stretch Marks’.

There aren’t too many positive things to say about snow, sleet and central heating at the best of times, but the fact that they all conspire to make the appearance of thread veins look more pronounced and flushing more regular really does take the biscuit. However, on a positive note, thread veins are most successfully treated when they are exacerbated as they respond more to light based treatments. In addition to this, it is also the best time to treat unwanted pigmentation as there is not a risk of high sun exposure unless you’re jetting away to escape the February blues.
In fact, if you begin a course of treatments in the first quarter of the year, there is the best chance of unwanted redness and pigment being eradicated by the time the weather is too warm for foundation and you are trying to achieve a healthy, youthful glow, rather than the bright red nose and cheeks that the biting wind and radiator warmth encourages.
Wouldn't it be great to light up the room for the right reasons? A rejuvenated, beautiful radiance beats Rudolph’s nose any day of the week.

New Year - New (Improved) You

Welcome to ‘Skin Deep’ – This month’s feature looks at our ‘New Year – New You’.

Wow, it really doesn’t seem like a month has passed since the last article, describing the ‘Christmas Top Five Treatments’. Now the New Year has been and gone, such a lot can change in a short period. It is traditionally the time that we tend to cut back on, well, pretty much everything i.e. less food, less alcohol, less shopping etc. However, it could be an ideal time to start doing more for ourselves rather than less. Having a post-festive break off high fat and carbohydrate based products is definitely a good way of ‘downsizing’ back into our favourite jeans but sometimes we need a little additional help to keep our spirits up. Radiofrequency body toning (which feels like a warming massage), non-surgical face lifts (that don’t hurt) and peels (with no downtime) to eradicate dead, dull skin can definitely provide the additional boost to keep us motivated and seeing many positive small steps instead of heading for another one-off ‘big diet’ that lasts for a few weeks before we revert back to type. So if you’re feeling like putting your best foot forward, getting back to the gym or out in the fresh air, why not give yourself an additional treat when you reach your first mini-milestone, it really does keep the momentum up and means that your hard work will last longer, look better and feel fabulous.

*Christmas Top 5 Treatments for Looking Great*

Welcome to ‘Skin Deep’ – This month’s feature looks at our ‘Christmas Top 5’.
(Any questions, just ask Dr. Angie Winnington-Sharp www.cheshireskinclinic.com angie@cheshireskinclinic.com or 01925 263660 & 07967 481594.  Next month – ‘New Year – New You’.

People often book into a beauty salon or skin clinic at this time of year as they feel that their skin needs a bit of (speedy) TLC and want to look their best for the imminent festive party season.  The most frequently asked question I get asked from new clients is ‘what are the most popular treatments you do, and which would suit me?’ Here is a quick run-down of the top 5 non-invasive (laser, pulsed light, radio-frequency, peels etc) treatments from this year:
*5* - Chemical peels; mild peels require no downtime and leave the skin looking fresh and rejuvenated.
*4* - Body Sculpting; great for reducing the appearance of cellulite, stretch marks and toning up for a ‘hot bod’.
*3* - Hair Removal; never out of the top five treatments, unwanted hairs on the face and body ‘zapped away’.
*2* - Non-Surgical Face Lifts; fast becoming a firm favourite (with men and women) to get rid of tired eyes, sagging jowls & ageing necks.
*1* - Skin Rejuvenation; a rounded treatment to target unwanted thread veins/pigment and to stimulate collagen.

'Tiz the season to be 'hair free'.....

Welcome to ‘Skin Deep’ – This month’s feature looks at our ‘Hair Removal’.
Any questions, just ask Dr. Angie Winnington-Sharp www.cheshireskinclinic.com angie@cheshireskinclinic.com or 01925 263660 & 07967 481594.  Next month – ‘Christmas Top 10’.

The temperature is definitely dropping so keeping warm is a priority at this time of year, but lets face it, growing excess hair isn’t really the ideal way to do it! Rather than go for the Neanderthal look, maybe it would be advisable to look fabulous in faux fur and get ready for a season of glitzy parties by having silky smooth skin and eradicating any ‘unwanted strays’ for good. This time of year is great for maximising the efficiency of laser hair removal as our natural tans have well and truly disappeared. So, before you rush out for a pre-party spray tan, get rid of any excess hair first with a laser removal course (using an optimal hair removal energy, meaning fewer treatments will be required in the long term). Then, when you’re fully groomed and pampered you can opt for a hint of a glow if that floats your boat, or just flaunt your skin’s natural tones for a more ‘en trend’ look.
